Safari is a part of OS X and allows to speed things up a little for all the restless among us (including me, of course). The Bookmarks Bar isn’t just a handy place to store things we need on a recurring basis, it allows us access certain things in it via a keyboard-shortcut. Notably bookmarks not enclosed in a folder.
It is as simple as that:
- Put a bookmark in the bookmarks bar (all by itself, means no enclosing folder).
- Open Show all Bookmarks (⌥-⌘-B), the first 9 bookmarks not enclosed in a folder are accessible via
- ⌘-1 to ⌘-9.
An here comes the nifty part, there is no reason to keep these single bookmarks taking up space in the visible part of the bar. Simply move them to the end (or bottom if you are in Show all Bookmarks), they do not have to be visible to be accessible by the shortcut.
This works great for websites we jump to more often like Digg.
